Overview

Ignition-proof engine compartment heater for boats. 1365 BTU / 400W, safe, self-regulated PTC element. Made in Canada.

Protect your investment and extend your boating season. Enjoy peace of mind during surprise cold snaps prior to winterization. The Pali utilizes a self-regulating PTC heating element that cannot overheat.

Start the boating season earlier and end later by protecting against sudden cold snaps.
Comes on when it's needed and turns off when it's not.
Dual airflow redundancy: Two fans are used for added security in case of a single fan failure.
Omnidirectional airflow discharge: Better thermal mixing of air results in more uniform heating throughout the compartment.
Ensures the coldest locations in compartment components do not drop below zero.
2-Year warranty.

The use of Pali is not a substitute for properly winterizing your boat.

  • Meets all ignition protection guidelines and standards (USCG, UL-1500)
  • Safe for use in engine compartments
  • Omnidirectional airflow discharge
  • Dual airflow redundancy
  • Safe thermostat temperature control: A hermetically sealed thermostat activates at 45°F (7°C)
  • Safe, self-regulated PTC element

1. Can the True North and the Pali Engine Compartment Heater be run on the same circuit?

No, it is not recommended. Each heater should be used on its own circuit to ensure it will work safely when required.

2. I would like to hard wire the Pali Engine Compartment Heater. Is your wire colour coding the same as the US?

The Pali Engine Compartment Heater is not designed to be directly wired. Please do not make any alterations to this product. Any changes made to this unit will be at your own risk.

3. Where can I use the Pali Engine Compartment Heater, and can it be used in diesel and gas engine compartments?

The Pali is designed to be installed in the engine compartment of boats/yachts to protect the motor from freezing in the event of a cold snap of weather. They are not designed to replace the winterization of your boat. These heaters are designed so that they can't cause fumes to ignite and start a fire or explosion. Diesel is less flammable, but neither engine fuels have an issue operating with the Pali.

The Pali will work well with most boats under 30' long. 80 Cubic feet can be envisioned as a cube just a little larger than 4'x4'x4', or approximately the size of a larger washing machine or fridge.

The 9510 Pali heater was also tested to UL Standard 1500 Ignition-Protection Test for Marine Products by Imana Laboratory, Inc. in July 2013 Report number 1970-1 and was verified safe. The product is also CSA listed to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 191-M89 Engine Heater and Battery Warmers and UL Std No. 499 13th Ed Electric Heating Appliances Standards.

4. Can I install the Pali Engine Compartment Heater upside down?

The unit can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Installation is made easier with the included mounting bracket.

5. Does the Pali Engine Compartment Heater reset itself if there is an outage and then the power is restored?

The Pali is controlled by a sealed thermostat. The thermostat does not require power to function. However, the heating element and fans do require power. If the power goes out, the thermostat still operates, but the heating element and fan will not work. Once power is restored, the heating element and fans will function.

In simpler terms, the Pali is continuously on, the thermostat controls the powering of the heating element and fan. The thermostat does not require power to function.

6. Can the Pali Engine Compartment Heater be mounted in a confined space in the engine compartment?

The unit should be mounted as close to floor level as possible. This is because the unit has an internal thermostat, and heat rises. If the unit is mounted too high, the air will cycle through and shut off before it warms the air below. The Pali can be mounted on a vertical or horizontal position as long as it is placed as low as possible.

7. Are you able to set the Pali Engine Compartment Heater to a certain temperature?

The temperature cannot be adjusted. The heater is designed to turn on at 7°C (45°F) and off at 15°C (59°F).

8. Can I use an extension cord with the Pali Engine Compartment Heater?

The CSA states an extension cord cannot be used with a heater as the extension cord is not wired for heater usage.

9. Does the Pali Engine Compartment Heater have an overheat protector?

This product does not have an overheat protector as it is ignition protected. The Pali is a self-regulating PTC heater; PTC heaters do not overheat. PTC elements are temperature limited.

10. How long is the power cord on the Pali Engine Compartment Heater?

The Pali Heater has a 20- foot power cord and should not be used with an extension cord.
