Where are you right now? How did you get there?
We are currently relaxing on the Sunshine Coast (Queensland, Australia) after an epic week exploring the West Coast of Fraser Island. We recently returned from 4 months in New Zealand, where we gave birth to our baby boy Oakley!
Tell us about yourself. Why’d you choose your lifestyle? How long have you been at it?
Chris was a personal trainer in central Sydney, and Ange was a manager in a 5-star hotel. Soon after meeting, we spent almost every weekend in our Jeep camping throughout the Blue Mountains. After a couple of years of paying road tolls, expensive rent, and dealing with crazy weekend traffic, we decided to quit our jobs and spend a year on the road (this was roughly four years ago). Cut forward to now; we have bought and built our ultimate offroad home on wheels and can't see spending life any other way. Having Oakley has been the icing on the cake, and we are already enjoying being nomadic parents, ready to tackle all of life's challenges and excitements.
Tell us about your rig. How long have you had it, how much distance have you put on it, and where have you taken it?
We live out of our self-built 1983 Ex-Australian Army Mercedes Unimog 4x4 Truck. We plonked a fibreglass/foam habitat on the back of it and kitted out the inside for comfortable off-grid living.
We have owned "Bowser" for nearly three years now (spent one-year full-time building it). We have put 40,000 km on the clock exploring the far reaches of Australia, from Cape York QLD to the bottom of Western Australia and everything in between, including the Simpson Desert.
How did you learn about SEEKR? What product(s) of ours do you have onboard? How’s it working out for you?
Both from word of mouth and spotting them in various high-end builds. We have two Sirocco IIs on board (one in our main living area and one in Oakley's crib area).
Both fans have helped our liveability. The one in our main area not only pushes kitchen smells and steam out one of our windows but also keeps us cool at night in our drop-down bed.
The fan in Oakley's room works wonders for helping him initially fall asleep in the warm weather and doubles up as a nice and quiet white-noise machine.
What’s next on your adventure checklist? Any plans for the near future? Distant future?
Our next plans are to slowly drive back to Western Australia to explore areas such as Exmouth, the Kimberley, and the Gibb River Road. We are also discussing shipping Bowser to the top of the USA and gradually driving from Alaska to Argentina.
Be sure to follow along the Chris and Ange's adventures on YouTube and Instagram!
Happy off-roading! Check out a list of stockists near you, or ask for Sirocco IIs to be installed in your next caravan build.
