How to Keep Warm When You’re Living the Narrowboat Life

The best thing about connecting with people that use our products is finding out where they're using them. For a while now, we’ve seen Ecofan on display in UK narrowboats, which makes a ton of sense when you think about it. Narrowboats are lengthy and, as the name suggests, narrow. To try to heat one with a woodstove seems like it could be a difficult chore, yet people do it all the time. Those that do, we’ve found out, love to get help from an Ecofan.
Caframo is dedicated to research and innovation in everything we do so when we say we like learning how our products are being used, we mean it. Woodstove usage on a narrow boat is an art. We were completely bemused when we realized how much work goes into achieving the perfect balance of keeping a narrow boat comfortable enough to live in through the winter months.
From keeping the woodstove going steadily, 24 hours each day from September to May, to figuring out how to move the warm air through the boat efficiently, which is where Ecofan comes into play, the narrowboat community seems like one of the most knowledgeable woodstove communities on the internet!
Our friends @CruisingAlba have outlined what works best for their stove. From how to start the fire, to maintaining it at optimal performance, to accessories and economics – these two have worked it down to a science.
